Making of a Mason – 3rd Degree “Rodeo” of Scott Sorensen

A Lodge of Master Masons was called to order at the Horse Ranch of Worshipful Brother Robert Wilson in Hollister CA on Saturday August 26 at 11AM, for the most important task in Freemasonry, that of Raising a Brother to the sublime degree of Master Mason.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by the Master, and all citizens of the United Stated of America joined in.

The Candidate for this unique “Rodeo Degree” was prepared, in a room adjacent the Rodeo Arena, known as a “Tack Room”.

Some banging and clanging of shovels and other implements was heard, and the candidate emerged with a bridle lead rope wrapped around him.

After the fist section, The Lodge was called to refreshment, and a Texas BBQ was enjoyed by all. Brother Carson Chandler of Virginia City entertained the Brethren, with his guitar and glorious voice.

After a delicious Texas BBQ, and some entertainment, the Brethren once again retired to the Rodeo Arena. The newest Master Mason of Texas Lodge was proven, as he became the 478th member of Texas Lodge. The members and barnyard animals applauded in approval, and a serenade of Goats and Roosters echoed their approval.

As a gesture of sincere appreciation and gratitude for sharing the teachings of Masonry, the Candidate coach Worshipful Brother Tony Averill received a gift from his pupil. Scott presented Tony a Bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Scotch Whisky, in celebration of this event, and his raising.

The Lodge was closed peace and harmony prevailing, and Brothers reveling at 3:21PM

Respectfully Submitted,
Loren George McKechnie
