Greetings, Brother Texan,

What an unbelievable trip to Masonic Homes in Union City we had this past weekend! It was indeed inspiring to see the care and stately facilities our most vulnerable brothers and families are enjoying.  Thank you for your donations to Masonic Homes (this link will allow you to donate: https://masonicfoundation.org/ways-to-give/give-now/ ) and thank you for supporting your lodge in these family-friendly activities.

We have a loaded social 2023 calendar, which you can always find here: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/embed?src=sanjuanbautistatxlodge46@gmail.com&ctz=America/Los_Angeles . But if you have a smart phone, please use the following link to synchronize the Lodge’s calendar into yours, so you won’t ever miss an event:  https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r?cid=sanjuanbautistatxlodge46@gmail.com .

Brothers, I have posted QR codes in the lodge cantina near the flag, and in the Tyler’s room near the Tyler’s Register.   You can point your I-phone camera or QR code reader at one of several of these QR codes to get immediate access to online postings such as your monthly Trestleboard (found under the NEWS heading on the Texas 46 webpage), the Texas social calendar, the 150 anniversary history publication from 2003, the virtual tour of our lodge, Worshipful Captain Storey’s 1860 funeral obituary newspaper release, or the history of our 36-star flag.  Bring a friend to the next stated breakfast and show him around, and share the links with him!

At the upcoming Stated Meeting we will hold a ballot to consider Brother David Godoy’s application to affiliate in Texas-46; he is a Master Mason in good standing in San Benito Lodge 211 and has applied for plural membership.

We have held 2 practices and are now prepared for the initiation ceremony of Mr. John Phillips, Jr on Wednesday, June 21, at 6 pm sharp (6PM dinner and 7 PM degree conferral). Please attend and pass the word for any members, especially new EAs you may know, so they can attend.

It is “Go time” for Brothers anticipating to hold office in Lodge for 2024.  You should be making progress on your upcoming position’s proficiency.  Please continue reviewing the ritual in your free “down-time” during the day, those free minutes while preparing meals, while driving in the car, or while waiting in a doctor’s lobby, etc.  Masonic ritual must be absorbed via repeated, frequent repetition and is a slow absorption process. It must be frequently bounced off one another to be retained.  It is not something you can “plan time to get to”.  It needs to fill in your free moments during the day if you are to retain it…. That has been my experience at least.

Thank you for your continued support of  California’s Most Outstanding Masonic Lodge. Period.  We are such a unique lodge because of each of you.  You are what makes Texas-46 special, and you are what links her historic past to her promising future and the “Brothers-46” yet to come.  What part will you play in her unfolding adventure through timeless San Juan’s history?

I will close with the following link to the online postings of the article I shared (in part) at our last stated meeting.  The article is published in 2 parts.  Part 1 is accessed buy the first link here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V0yujZvIZaz_ZsWKBmjgTY2adK3pd0v7/view?usp=sharing

Part 2 begins on page 34 (166 internal pagination) of the second link herein https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Bj1c73oNlia5u8rulaWkWEj9MR812gJs/view?usp=sharing   This article was written by Stephen Doan, Past Grand Master of Masons in California, and was published in Philalethes.  Definitely worth the read.

Sincerely and fraternally yours,

Kevin Herrick, Worshipful Master
