Texas Lodge has held its Monthly Stated Meeting each and every, “Second Saturday of the Month”, at 10AM since its founding in 1854.
Being a “daylight” lodge, where the stated meeting is held during the day, rather than after nightfall as most Lodges do, Texas Lodge creates the opportunity for a Texas Style Breakfast.
Given that our Lodge was founded by Texan Ranchers, I thought it might be of interest to the Brethren to learn a little about how Civil War era Texans did Breakfast while working out on the range.
All men know that “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”, and “Cookie” is the most important Cowboy on the range. In the old west, the Cook often played many roles, not only fixing food, but also serving as doctor.
This video from Cowboy Kent Rollins‘s YouTube channel is a winner.
This article is dedicated to our very own Charles “Chuck Wagon” Baylacq and his wife Brandy, who have been dedicated members of Texas Lodge, spreading Brotherly Love!
Sincerely, Loren McKechnie
