On this historic date, we embark on the third Presidential impeachment in the history of our beloved United States of America. Today, I make a motion for all citizens of the world, to seek more light. Now that WE find ourselves in this situation, WE THE PEOPLE, must LEARN and seek light to understand how our “government of the people, by the people, for the people” was founded and is intended to operate. This statement “of the people, by the people and for” became known to most of us in reading our history books about Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address on Nov 19th 1863. Our Beloved Texas Lodge No.46, having been chartered but 10 years by this time.
BUT, SURPRISE Lincoln evidently borrowed the now-famous three-part phrase. In 1384, John Wycliffe wrote in the prologue to his translation of the Bible, “The Bible is for the Government of the People, by the People, and for the People” (Familiar Quotations by John Bartlett, 1951 edition). What we can learn here, is that “Popular History” is not always the actual meaning and historical fact.
Thought and Reason combined with Education and Understanding will help guide us through hard times. These challenging times were luckily foreseen by our founding Fathers, many of which were brothers.
I write this introduction, to share with you set of Free Online College courses I have been enjoying immensely. Discovering this treasure trove of intellectual stimulation, has certainly made the last month of 2019 more enjoyable and enlightening for me.
Brethren, I hope that you might enjoy the same light, to more fully understand this important time in the history of our Republic.
The Federalist Papers: A particularly interesting chapter 3, “The Problem of a Majority Faction:” wherein we find ourselves today, with the Majority Popular Vote in the 2016 election in counterpoint vs. the official Electoral College vote, which officially elected our President.
We are incredibly fortunate for this Republic, our Founding Fathers having laid out the most durable infrastructure of Government in our Constitution, its seven articles, The Bill of Rights, The Amendments, and Federalist Papers. For our Constitution of the United States of America, is the oldest functioning Constitution in the world.
Sincerely, Brother Loren George McKechnie
Secretary Elect (2020) Texas Lodge No.46 F & A.M of California
